NEWS .

The next Ad Hoc association communication meeting will be on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 3 PM at the Homosassa library. The turnout for these meetings has not been very good, five to ten members. The purpose of these meetings is to give the members of the association an opportunity to have their opinions heard and not be limited by the three minute rule at the regular board meeting. An example of issues that need community input is the recent board decision to not haul out trees cut down in the greenbelt.

We have added a signup form for joining our mailing list. We are trying to save as much money as possible on communications costs. It's easy to subscribe, and easy to unsubscribe. We promise to not fill up your inbox, but we will copy you on association meetings, and business that we feel you might like to know about. If you are one of the nearly 900 members who have already given us your e-mail address, you don't have to do it again. If you are one of the over 3000 who haven't, please do.

We have added the monthly financial reports to the web site. They are on the Committees page.

The first two CVPOA Workshops are history. You can read about it here, and a new project called Communications Meetings.

Candidates for the CVPOA Board of Directors

Michelle Klemm has resigned from the Board of Directors. The board elected Mr. Warren Blodgett at the Special Meeting held on December 3, 2009. He will fill the balance of her term in office.

We have four candidates running for three seats on the Board of Directors. The election will be held in March 2010.You can read their bios by clicking on their name. The candidates are Francis M. Bennett, Anthony Briskie, Dick Johnson, and David L. Watson.

The proposal to buy the SunTrust building failed by a vote of 1244 to 1081.

The Board of County Commissioners killed the water rate increase at the hearing October 27, 2009 after being informed by Robert Knight that a new consultant's report says that we are not exceding our allowed water usage.

Volunteers, Thank you.

The Gardening Committee has two new volunteers, Thank you.

We have not had a single response to an appeal for volunteers to work on the Cypress Village welcoming committee. If you have the time and would like to meet new people moving into the area, please help.

We made the papers again and have our own page on the BOCC web site The water police are targeting Sugarmill Woods. You may want to review the information on the Issues of Interest page about water usage.

The 2008-2009 Fiscal Year Financial Report is available here.

Here is the reserve balance information that should have been included in the above report.

We have a couple of new features on the web site. The first is a cross reference between block/lot number and street address for lots in Cypress Village. The second is a list of homes in foreclosure in Cypress Village. The data is in an Excel spreadsheet format. That means you will need to have Excel installed on your computer to use the information, OR you will have to have the free version of Excel Viewer available from the Microsoft web site installed. This link will take you to the download site for Viewer 2003 which should work for most of us. It's small, 9.9 Meg. The viewer for 2007 files is over 70 Meg in size and I don't think most of us will need it. If you feel you need the 2007 version, you can get it here.

CVPOA believes the information to be accurate, but is not responsible for any errors contained in the documents.

Block/Lot to Street Address conversion

We credit Mr. Larry Healey for the Block/Lot to Street tables. He was the originator, Mr Skip Christensen passed the information to us.

Foreclosure Actions

This list contains a listing of foreclosure actions that have been initiated or completed within the past months, starting 1 January 2008. Efforts have been made to transcribe the information correctly. It is not necessarily a complete listing of all actions initiated or completed, only the information that has been taken solely from the public records contained on the Citrus County Clerk of Courts web site. An effort will be taken to update the list on a monthly basis. It is intended only to present a snapshot of the status of homes within Cypress Village and to give a picture to our residents. The last update was December 1, 2009.

If you would like a Sugarmill Woods license tag for your front bumper, they are available at the A-Frame for $5.00. Any profits go to local charities. If you have the license plate but don't have the little circle R to make it official, drop by and pick one up. They are free.

The next regular Board of Directors meeting  is Friday, January 15, 2010, at 9:30 AM at the OVPOA offices, 5478 S. Suncoast Blvd, Servos Plaza. This is a change of location. .

The annual assessment was due May 7, 2009. If you haven't paid, contact the A-Frame to get up to date.

The results are in on all the issues we voted on leading up to our annual membership meeting. Click here to see them.

Please remember that the area up to 1.5 miles East of US 19 may be a mandatory evacuation area. A Citrus County Disaster Re-entry tag may be required for re-entry into Cypress Village even if you don't live within that area. They are available at any Sheriff's office and also at the A-Frame. The Sugarmill Woods Country Club is very close to being 1.5 miles East of US 19.

Water is our number one issue, and we need to become as knowledgeable as possible about the players and governmental organizations that control our future. Learn more by checking out the Issues of Interest page.

The current watering restrictions are available on the BOCC web site.  The county is playing hardball on this issue, but is back to issuing a warning for the first offense.

While water is an immediate problem, we also need to be aware of the status of the Suncoast Parkway 2, and Progress Energy's plans to expand their distribution system through Sugarmill Woods. Please see the Issues of Interest page for more information. The new power line route has been selected and it runs through Cypress Village along what is now called the little power line. The FTE has announced the Suncoast 2 Parkway is Suspended (PAUSED). The route runs just to the East of what is called the big power line.  They have a very detailed map on their web site, and a brief notice of it's new status, www.suncoast2online.com
